5/8-5/11 Epic Shoeless Fishing

Its been a bit since I posted, so here is a good one.  My brother came to town after his return from Afghanistan and we were able to head offshore twice and fished inshore once.

Tuesday was very sloppy, but the targeted species of Golden Tilefish and other mixed bag fish was accomplished.  We picked up live bait and tried a few drifts at the Sand Pile.  We landed one short Cobia and then pushed out deeper.  We hit a number of snapper spots on the way out and picked up a few keepers.  The wind seemed to relax just a bit, so we decided to push out to the Tile grounds.  It was solid 4-5ft seas, but we toughed it out and got our target species.  They were not the largest I have caught, but made some excellent fish tacos that night.

Thursday, my buddy CPT Jimmy Waldon of Nightstalker Charters took us in search of big Snook and anything else we could bend a rod on.  My brother landed a nice 35" Snook and there were no shortage of Jacks to pull a rod on.

Friday was absolutely amazing.  We picked up some live bait and hit the Sand Pile in search of Cobia.  It did not disappoint.  We landed a 45 lb Cobia before 7:30.  There was one other boat that landed 3, but I didn't see any other hookups.  After a few drifts we decided to head offshore to see what else we could find.  Wifey picked up some nice eats and we found a few Red Snapper holes.  All were vented and released for another day.  Hopefully we get an opening season this year and I can return and pick up their bigger brothers.

Solid report.  Deep dropping tiles can be a real challenge in 4-5'.

Yes Sir it can LOL.  I was amazed on my first drop as soon as it hit the bottom, we hooked up.  We normally get the bigger ones, maybe it’s just early in the year.  O well, they taste great any way :)

Misleading title. You're both wearing shoes on all of the trips.

I’ll never give up fishing :).  Just picked up some more hobbies.  I’m building a Factory Five Racing GTM Super Car.  I needed a winter project as these fishing conditions have been horrible lately.
