  As a  former narcotics and doctor shopping detective I can say that the majority of the addicts I've dealt with do not start with legit prescribed Dr. scripts. That being said, yes opioids are a drug that should be avoided at all costs.

  One cop that worked with multiple local, state and federal agencies on hundreds of these cases over those years in the area of the country hardest hit at the time. But hey believe what you may if it helps you sleep better.

  What the heck is wrong with you, Ron? You can usually disagree with someone without being a dic yourself. You really believe that the drug manufacturers are to blame for the opiod  epidemic? It's not like these are new drugs, and that it hasn't been widely known for years and years they are addictive. The doctors dang sure know. And if patients don't, then they aren't paying attention to life around them. Anytime a Doc prescribes a drug you better ask questions about it. I'm seriously allergic to aspirin, and ask me very Doc who prescribes me anything If it's ok for me to take it. Even though it's on my chart, and many times, even when I've told the Doc that I'm allergic that visit, I have still had them say "Oh yeah, you told me that. You cant take this drug". I can't stand Big Pharm, all they care about is money, but patients and doctors have to take responsibility for getting addicted right along with them.
