3/19 out of Ft Pierce Inlet

Went straight east and then wondered a little south and then back north.  At 280ft got a Sailfish and a Mahi at 180ft.   Happy to get the 2 we got but still was a little slow for a full day.   Didn't see alot of people out there.  Curious if anyone else had any luck.  Looks like we'll be land locked for a few days with the high winds.

We went out on Saturday and slow trolled a few live baits around the 90' bar.  Got an up 20s king and a snake but nothing else.  quite a few boats were out but most were bottom fishing and I did not see very many people out deeper.  Did see a few small dolphin at the docks, looks like the run is not hear yet.

We fished yesterday. Stopped at a new 57 foot spot "Lisas ledge" named after my wife who spotted it as she was driving. We caught quite a few 18 inch trigger fish and some large Lanes. Decided to go deeper for some more variety. Went out to our best 80 foot reef. It was really empty on the fishfinder and on the screen. We moved deeper to the county deep reef and all the reefs but the Mullipen looked pretty bare. Ended the day with a lot of delicious filets but if we had stayed in 57 feet we would have had a better day.
Water was 72 at 57 feet and and 75 at deep reef.

Were you drifting or anchored?  Curious what bait you used on the 57 ft reef?

We fished Sunday out of FPI, thankfully found bait on north beach.  Stopped just offshore of the Kingfish fleet south of Bethel, caught 2 decent Kings, 2 big Jacks and a 13lb. Bluefish?  Water was really green there so we ran offshore in search of blue water, found it in 180'.  Went 1-3 on Sails and caught 3 small Dolphin who were not at all aggressive, thankfully we had a few small finger Mullet in the well which they ate.

We  drifted in 57 and anchored in 80 because of the stream. Most of those reef fish love squid. I buy 30 pound boxes of very large and thick squid from the swordfish docks at the nw side of the drawbridge in Fort Pierce. Then all the grunts get chunked as fast as they come in the boat. Saved some grunts and freelined them in 80 feet but nothin good grabbed them.
