Year end Gagging 12-27 and 12-30 2017

The weather gave us two shots at going offshore this last week of the year. Both trips were primarily trolling in 25 to 30'. Both trips produced some nice gags and some late season kingfish. We put enough grouper in the freezer to get us by until June (maybe).

Now I'll have to be happy with sheepshead, AJ's or fishing inshore till the cobia come back and the gags are back in season. =)

12-27-17 - 2 foot seas and 64 degree water.

Barb got the big fish on Wednesdays trip, 12lbs

12-30-17 - 1 foot seas and 62 degree water

I got the jumbo for Saturday's trip, 15 lbs 4 oz.

Nice way to end the season. The grouper bite is on fire, but we have to "Wait". It's going to be a long stretch till those brown bombers show up again.

Nice fish. Bummer that our seasons have to be this way. I look forward to the cobia coming back too.

Very nice! Way to have some fun at the end of the season!
It's funny that a few macks were still around.
Do you recall a water temperature?

Excellent job. Finally getting my health sort of in order and the season closes. I don't always like, but I do appreciate, how they are managing the Gag stock. Look forward to June.

Water temps were 62 - 63, this is the latest I have ever caught kingfish, they are usually way south by now.
