  I’ve used the Cortland clear tarpon line in 10wt. Cast just fine, but your casting has to be spot on cause you can’t see it in the air!!!

  If you have a Fly Line Scale would you weight the first 30 ft, then the first 40 ft???
  
  I almost never have more than 40 ft of "line in the air" when I'm casting and I only use manufacturers labeling of a ?wt fly line as a starting guide when I'm selecting lines.

  I have Cortland wf9f that seems ok but mostly use Monic covert clear on my 6 & 8wts.
