CaptainRobCaptainRob Posts: 60 Greenhorn
Anyone know off hand the overall length and height of a 189 when its on the trailer? Making sure my garage has enough room if I decide to purchase.

Appreciate the help...

A lot of it will have to do with the trailer. I have a trailer designed for a 21 -22 foot boat so it's about 25 feet long. I did this so I don't have to get my truck tires wet at some of the ramps in the keys.

Like Last-Cast said it depends on the trailer. Some trailers have the bunks setup a little higher then others making the overall height a few inches higher. In addition, some of the newer boats have a taller poling platforms. to accomidate for those motors with taller cowlings.

That said the guys that store their boats in the garages are using trailers with a folding tongue. You need a two car garage and the boat goes in at an angle.

I had a Rolls Axle trailer with my 189 and it can carry the boat low enough to get under a standard garage door........and they made the trailer with a detachable tongue, so the front of the boat was the furthest point forward with the tongue removed. The length on my 189 with the tongue removed was 20' 10". My garage was 21' deep and i put it going straight back and not angled.

I will post a response next weekend when I get to the marina and measure my 189 on a Float On trailer. I am hoping it will be less than 23.75 feet as that is the depth of my new garage. Worse case, I might need to get a new trailer like the one Silverdreams had.

I have the same trailer as Silverdreams and our numbers are the same for trailer length. Great trailers for sure.

I have an ez-loader tandem axle with a swing away tongue. I think it is the same trailer as what it used for the 2011, with some adjustments. When the tongue is folded, rough estimate is 22ft and height at the top of the powerpole is 86". Let me know if you need pictures or more exact measurements.

I have a float on trailer. I measured it yesterday and it is about 25.5 feet from tongue to propeller.

My trailer is about 2 feet too long to fit in my garage. Has anyone used those car dolly or skates which go under each tire to try and reposition the trailer by sliding it along to get the angle of the length to fit in the garage? The tire dollies are a couple hundred dollars each so I might give it a try before I go to replace my current trailer which is otherwise fine. One concern I have is that the garage floor has a 2 % angle downwards so not sure if this is feasible.
