I've been boating for 40+ years and never had this problem. I fish solo 90% of the time on freshwater lakes in Arkansas, most of which don't have docks at the ramps. I've launched solo hundreds of times and have a proven system that keeps me dry. (Don't mind wading a little in the summer but it's miserable getting wet in early spring when it's cold.) After I load the boat on the trailer I just reverse the system. My problem is my new boat is much higher when it's on the trailer and my legs, while long, aren't long enough to reach the trailer. I've only launched my new boat once and never thought about getting out of the boat until I realized my legs wouldn't reach. I had to climb over the side of the boat and use the fenders as a step onto the ramp. Besides getting wet, I risked a stiff fine had someone caught me in the water. I've never had this problem with any of my other boats. Does anyone have a solution? Not much room for a ladder like you see on party barge trailers.

The lake near my house is the reserve water supply for Little Rock, AR. They allow boating but no wading or swimming. You're not supposed to be in a boat smaller than 14 ft. Most of the time there's no one around to give you a ticket. However, spend enough time on the water and you'll bump into someone "official" looking to issue a ticket. There are other lakes but this one is 20 minutes from the house.
I might take the trailer to a welding shop and see if they can build me aluminum steps.
