Planned on a 4-hour adventure and had to drive to St. Pete..........
Launched @ 6:45 with water at 82.6.
Headed to the beach anticipating some decent topwater action.
Nope! 2 jack crevalles and 2 other minor blow-ups.
Water was very clear. Looked nice. To bad it did not contain any fish.
Off to the SW corner of Cape Romano.
Threw my tackle box at them.
Nothing but a 2-foor blacktip shark on a white swim bait.
Into the Morgan River. Throwing a blue Yo-Zuri, shrimp/cork and white bucktail Spro's.
Nothing on the Yo. Shrimp produced a small sheepshead and a mangrove snapper.
Bucktail tallied a 14" trout and a 17" trout.
Back towards the ramp and small mangrove island with good water movement with the outgoing tide.
Throwing into 8 feet water (away from the mangroves) produced 4 catfish.
Something was popping the small baitfish against the mangroves.
Threw the Spro in there and got an 18" snook and a decent jack.
A few minutes later, tossed the Spro back into the mangroves and saw a nice long silver flash.
Line went tight and after a nice fight, a 29" snook found it's way to the deck.
A few pics and back she went.
Now approaching 11am and a 2-1/2 drive, I put it on the trailer.
Slow day. HOT day with minimal wind.
No topwater but the snook at the end made it worth the trip.

I slept in Sunday , up at 5 am ..then back to bed till 9. Ramp at 10 , High tide , Buttonwood Bay.
Hoped to fish the Bars topwater . Wind at 12 to 18 or so..Forget the open bay, trees were bending with the storms moving thru.
Small Creek near there , small Snook, topwater. small snapper on a jig.
Off to Out-front cove I've been looking at..2 to 3 ft. waves crashing the Mangrove.Nope.
Back to Buttonwood hid from the wind. 2 4/5 ft. Sharks in an hour on chunk fresh Mullet.
Back to the ramp wide open dodging storms.
