FPI 5-29-17 Wife found the weed mats and a phin

5-29-17 FPI Report. Seas were 1-2 most of the day with the occasional 4+ rollie, Nice water color deep blue with clear skies.

Cleared the inlet early not a whole lot of traffic. I dropped them in at 75 because it looked fishy; flying fish, some weeds, etc... Zig zag trolled out to 200 Trolled most of the morning with only one bite before noon. Took the whole ballyhoo just left me the hooks :banghead in 165 feet.

Found scattered weeds in 135-165 the annoying kind that you have to keep clearing your lines every 10 minutes. Fished there for a while nada. :huh

I decided that even though most of the reports I saw said inside 200 feet for dolphin that I was sick of no action and I would make one last ditch effort and reel them in and head out to 250 and see if anything looked fishy.

When we got out to 250 feet my wife told me she could see some big weed mats in the distance. I dropped the baits back in and sure enough there was a very decent weed line with big mats in 275-300 feet. I trolled up and down and around the big mats and my wife hooked up a small cow.

We tried that technique for a little longer with no more bites.

Had a great day out on the water, wife got us some dinner, stayed away from the crowd, and just because the reports say one thing if it looks fishy fish it:fishing

Hope everyone had a safe Memorial Day
