Hello fellow anglers, just a quick on foot report. Went out Friday out of juno and took my mom and brother for some casual beach fishing in attempts to put them on some big snook. Beautiful day but it wasn't until 9 am that a solid bait ball of threadfins appeared and it was game on! Nonstop action from 9 to 12. Got hit several times and brought in 5 solid fish, all of us catching an overslot ranging from 34-36 inches. Solid bait balls out beyond the pier in boating territories holding some big baits and probably some big fish. All in all great family fishing day and awesome first snook for my momma!

Thanks for posting some motivation.
Pretty simple setup. I fish the beach on light tackle, reel size 4000-5000. The 41 incher was caught on a 4500 penn battle and medium light inshore 7 foot rod. 30# fluoro leader tied line to line with a 1/0 owner circle hook. I walk the beach with my cast net netting anything from sand perch to croakers, but if there's a baitball then youre in buisness. 4 of the fish were caught on 8 inch threadfin herrings and the 2 biggest were caught on croakers (the magic bait). You don't necessarily have to see the fish, if you see a decent bait ball cast on the edges of it or beyond it since snook like to circle the perimeter of the school of bait. So always try to fish near a school of bait. I hope this helped you!
Didn't even go on the pier!! But you can get it done either way good luck out there.
a little early for the spawn but there are some big fish cruising solo right now. Good luck out there next time
