This should put a big smile on some faces around here. This will be the FWC staff recommendation to the commission on Thursday at the Florida Public Safety Institute in Havana. If approved by the commission the final public hearing on it will be at the July meeting. My guess is that if the staff recommends it, the commission will approve it. This would be a real win for Big Bend grouper anglers! Now, if we can just the commercial light fishermen (charter boats) moved out the recreational sector and into the commercial sector of the red snapper fishery, we'll be in good shape.
68B-14.0039 Recreational Grouper Seasons – The recreational gag grouper harvest season in state waters off Franklin, Wakulla, Jefferson, and Taylor counties would continue to be open April 1 through June 30 each year and would also be open from September 1 through December 31 each year.http://myfwc.com/media/4178274/11a-big-bend-presentation.pdf

Unless you happen to be in jail at the time.

With one exception...I'd like to be able to catch something besides bait and grunts! LOL
