Fishing help week of Feb 20 ( new to area )

New to area, just finished with a home on Palm Island ( Knight Island ). Will be down for a week in late February. Looking forward to getting to know the area, would like to fish a few days, or nights inshore.

Any advice would be appreciated, fished a lot on east coast, Melbourne / Sebastian area, but not very familiar with SW coast. Spent a lot of time fishing inlet patterns for Snook, Tarpon, topwater Trout / Reds, love seeing availability of those fish on these posts.

Thanks

What do have for a boat, what does it draft?

Probably the only difference is that we call inlets, passes on this coast. We have a TON of shallow water on this side. Get a good chart and stick to channels until you get more familiar with the waters here. Take a day or 2 with a guide to speed things up or find a forum member looking to fish who knows the area. Lots of info already on the forums so try a search for specific targets. Good luck!!!

Whidden Key, Lemon Bay and Cedar Point are good starting points. As whipachaw suggested get a guide best money you will spend. Same techniques as the east coast. Tonnes of info on the forum. Take a boat ride at low tide, February will have some strong negative tides look for exposed bars, flats, structure - go back when the water is moving and deeper. Good luck.
