After a few good trips we sure paid our dues today!
This season, (apart from a few banner days has been tough>
I'm pretty humble and readily admit I may not "have it all figured out"
I have watched the best of the best in Multi million $$ rigs fish right next to us
and yet report similar results for most part (fish or 2 here or there. mostly where are the fish ? , what is with these whimpy *** "cold fronts" yada yada )
Left LWI about 7 w light winds and a mix of live and dead bait ready.
Ran due East to about 90' and set up in W/NW winds that were from 15-25+ MPH.
For the surfers, TIDE was CRAZY high, but some head high sets crashing at Pump and Ocean Reef
(but i digress) :grin
First drift we put out 2 SFE's w 3 baits each and a flat and a deep bait (nada).:banghead
Wind really picked up so we ran back inside and put up 2 Holey heavy kites.
Had one sail we saw tailing down sea, but never slowed to investigate our spread.
Angler on bow hollered "Cobia coming down Sea". BTW it was fairly calm, but there were 5-8' rollers spaced out about 9 or 10 seconds. I hoped for the best, but saw "suspect dorsal". Anyway we pitched, and it was a 4' shark (doh)
Dirty green water, no current, heavy West Wind and we got 2 more bites.
1 Remora and one small king maybe 10lbs.:angel
Hope for better luck next trip and I pride myself in sharing the good the bad and yes the ugly in hopes it helps some of you all.:spin
Peace
E
PS lately out of LWI there has been a "flock of seagulls", in about 200' just N of inlet.
Avid anglers get excited to see them diving and splashing just outside their kites!
It is like a mirage, when thirsty in the desert! LOL
They are just stealing baits, and picking small fish from sargassum and IMHO to be ignored...
Hint they like $7 gogs, did not want to hook one so guess what?
"I ran, I ran so far away " ROTFL
Birds major disappointed in E$ today as they had planned another wahoo / Mahi / snapper fest!
Lili opened up a case of whoop *** when she saw empty cooler!!
On the bright side it was a magnificent sunrise and I'd be lying if I did not admit i just LOVE being ON the water. Hope to do a better job next trip and will share my "experience" like Mr Jimi H! Ha

Life begin's as soon as I leave the dock!
Thx for kind words. I am reminded of a phrase that i will never forget from "the unforgettable" Mr George Labonte.
He was giving a "seminar" to a group of avid, (yet semi gullible WPBFC members)
He lowered his voice to a whisper, and w expert voice inflection asked "You wanna catch more fish"????
The crowd was stunned, and roared a mighty YES, in anticipation of a huge secret!!
He calm said "Fish more days", and to this day truer words have never been spoken, and respect to the man who taught many about 'life on the edge"!! Kudos George L and LOL

Thanks,
Jim
Went out twice this past week. Some trolling, some deep dropping, some jigging, and live bait drifting...
All we had to show for it was a 25 lb. Cuda. Not even a nibble otherwise.
So. Yes, it is comforting to know that even the Pro's are having to pull out all the stops to put a fish in the box.
Thanks for your candor Eric.
Pura Vida!
