12/14/16 slick water offshore in the fog

Took a group of 5 out yesterday. Really cool group of guys who work together in various different departments of a company.
Left cape yacht club heading into the fog at 645 am. Lines were in the water around 830, where we worked through the day to put together a nice fishbox. Lots of laughs, lots of nice fish, and a couple lost fish. The conditions were great, 1 ft seas with little to no wind. The fog hung around till about 2pm, and the sun was a welcome feeling as it had been a little chilly all day. We caught tons and tons of grouper, lots of which were too small to keep. we did manage some very nice ones up to 28", as well as a couple dozen Lane snapper, porgies, and a couple really nice sized key West grunts. We must have caught another dozen or so dinner plate sized triggerfish that had to go back because the season is closed. Everyone went home with a couple bags of fillets... The talk of the day was the octopus we caught that one wanted to keep, the other wanted to throw back... He went back... I think it brought good karma. Looking forward to good weather in the near future.
