11-26 inshore. A slot red, trout, and a surprise guest.

Got a little northwest wind Saturday morning so I figured Id get to the west side and wade some docks north of the power plant. Got there at first light and had some fun with the jacks on a skitter walk. Too bad There wasn't a few more delicious fish willing to hit the topwater.

Sun came up and the topwater bite did what it does and I made the move to the gulp shrimp on a hookup jig. Popped from dock to dock and nailed a nice slot red. About 25". A little later I found a nice school of trout and got 4 keepers within 10 casts amongst some smaller fish that let go. All really nice eating size at around 20-23". At this point Im thinking slam and looking for my snook. A few minutes later I get the bite and he's taking drag and it must be a snook....right? Gets me wrapped around a pilling and I follow. Then another and I follow again even though Im now deep enough to get water in my waders. Finally get him out in the open and get a look and its not what I want but a cool surprise none the less. I was pretty stoked to get this dude on 20lb braid on a little inshore outfit.

Snapped a pic and let him get back to his home in the docks. Ended the day with plenty of meat so I was happy with my day even though I fell short of my slam. Go get em bouys and girls!

Nice work! I saw the weather and had the exact same idea that you did except I went a little further north. Ended up with a similar mix "I did get my slam but a dink slam at that...." however my surprise guest was a 26" flounder that was invited home for dinner. I wish I found that red that you did! Nice report, great to see some inshore reports mixed in. Love this time of year!
