Home Fly Fishing

Fly fishing for brown trout, but if they were snook, they would be over slot. :)

Doesn't seem like much is happening on here, and I can't get down there to fish (live in Iowa) until next summer for my annual snook trip. These brown trout were actually caught while fly fishing for steelhead this fall, big streamers, in flat, slow moving runs in four to six feet of water. Cast out and down and across, let the current swing, and give it a little strip to pop the material. The browns in these pics went 17, 17.1, and 18.1 pounds and are a bycatch while fishing for steelhead. Had a 24-25 pound that wrenched out of my hand yesterday before I could get a pic. Hurt my feelings. Hope things are fishing well down there.
