Doc cleared me to work / fun fish until next round of tests! When a friend invited me to bottom fish this evening for a few hours I JUMPED at chance! (Buckster is my good friend and AWESOME fisherman.)
Got to the boat (30' Grady Marlin) and it reminded me of my old boat (just I had the CC flavor)
Buckster had some mullet and a few gogs in pen and we shoved off in light rain and cloudy skies.
Get out to 100' and dirty water and no tide and West wind! Not my favorite, but I am so happy just to be back on the water w a fishing rod in my hand. Long story short, we got 2 nice FLAG size tails in the 19" range and a pair of muttons that were 16 and 19". Then Owen gets smoked on flat and we have a fiesty sail dancing around the boat!
Owen caught the fish on 15lb test and noodle rod, and never asked me to move boat or chase fish down!
Last drop i lost a decent king and Owen boats a 21.5" Fat Red Grouper (aka fire truck)
We saw sails balling up bait and kings skying so i am excited to get back to "worK" and very grateful to my good friends who have been taking me fishing so I don't get too rusty!
PS cooked up some fish for the birds and wife and OMG is it good fresh!

Whenever you go through a period when you can not fish it just makes it sweeter. It always reminds me of what I loved about it.
