With my main job up in the northeast and my own boat having a lot of work done this summer, it's been a few months since I have actually spent a day offshore here in PB. Finally got the call from my Ocean Yacht customer to head out this morning.
Ran offshore at first light and found a nice edge in 850' with weeds. Put the rigs out and trolled a while, finding several nice pieces of wood in the edge as well. Surprisingly, bites were scarce. We dragged up one and raised another after nearly an hour, but weren't seeing enough.
I pulled in the rigs and flipped a couple mullet out near one of the boards. That was the ticket. Immediately caught one. He had followers but they were shy. Wouldn't even eat livies. Chunks? Nope. Squid? Nope. Hmm.
Slow trolled a couple mullet from one board to another. Over the next couple hours we picked one fish every fifteen minutes or so. Ending up with a total of 7 in the box, all between 4-8lbs. Probably jumped off another 4-5.
Not exactly a stellar day but nice to see the dolphin back in town. I have a feeling these fish were hammered by boats on Saturday and were spooked, but we got enough. Had it been mid week we probably would have been overwhelmed by fish, but it was Sunday. No pics because we were short handed and honestly they were nothing to brag about.
