When I was a kid and you cried you lost a ton of respect. I remember being pissed after a loss but never tears. I think they're crying because of expectations created by adults. Have fun and give it your all but at the end of the day its a freaking game.
Always great to see an exhibition of kindness, empathy and compassion. I don't have a problem with little kids participating in competitive sports. They need to learn that it's fun to win and sucks to loose. That's how we learn to compete and win as adults. Kids that age don't have the same emotional control as many (not all) adults. Crying after working so hard and loosing is pretty normal for little kids. Again - not a bad thing.
