How common are Bluefish mid Marsh?

Been reading some conflicting information about bluefish in East Central Florida. Some say they are quite common during winter time, some say they are caught only by chance in this region.

What are the chances of catching blue fish surf casting in mid March? High, low, forget it? :willynilly

Heck, they are still around ( much fewer) now....

The biggest blues I've ever caught (around the 10lb range) were between and March and May. You get a lot of dinks now through the beginning of spring

There are a few bluefish around here year round. Not really enough to target during June thru August though. Their numbers start to increase in Sept when they are following the finger mullet migration from the north. I would say the best months for quantity would be Nov thru April. I like throwing topwater plugs at the inlet mouth on 4lb test.(by boat) Lots of fun!

Huntsman you from up north? I grew up on LI and the blues here are usually small just after snapper phase but they are still blues. How I miss the fall run along the south beaches of LI for big blues and stripers from the surf. They eat the same here, flashy fast and if they are around they eat.

Thank you all for your feedback.

CJB11, I'm in central East, closer to Cocoa beach. Hopefully big ones will be around here when I fish again in Spring :)

I've caught some in the 30"-36" range occasionally in late winter, early spring from the beaches north of Port Canaveral......but mostly they are in the 12'-20" range all through fall, winter, and spring
