Need advice on blanks for snook

Hey all,
I'm going to be building a snook rod for inlets for the first time. I need recommendations on blanks. I'd like to build this for about $300. This is what I'm looking for:

8'0" - 8'6" (no longer, I don't like 9')
Good backbone
Needs to throw up to 3 oz

It'll be used at Boynton Inlet, throwing flair hawks, xraps, and bombers.

I've looked at rainshadow blanks; are the lure ratings accurate? I think fiberstar composites are out of my budget.....

Thank you.
