A pretty good day

So, Michael (topwater guy ) convinced me I should try to put in at yacht club despite it being day two of mini season. When I got down to the river I was surprised that there were only 3 trailers in the parking lot...and 1 was Michaels! :grin
I hit my first spot and while I was expecting a snook...I got a nice Trout...but then got a little snook. I didn't want to waste too much time so I ran towards a couple spots that might have a Red...threw plastic since it was way too early to see. Nothing... Moved south and stopped to chat with my buddy Chuck the crabber...who is throwing a cast net since crabs are pretty rare up here now.
I started looking around down south but the water was super dirty...and stinky. It was kinda like that smell back years ago when seagrass would get along the shore and bake in the sun...but since there is no seagrass...that's not it. I have a theory on it though.
Head to a spot that while had terrible vis < 8 inches max... I saw a Red wallowing along...and the second toss worked out.

OK...So it is 7:50 and that makes #58 ... I have something I want to do. I get on the big motor and at 8:25 I'm in some nice clean water.

I get three of these on the CAL...

While out...I get to see a rocket launch...Clear skies make it spectacular! ...then a few minutes later...that rumble!

Holy cow...I spin up the big motor and run for the ramp... Had enough time to get home..get shaved and cleaned up and make it to the emergency Lagoon Council meeting.

Pretty good day.

    Part two...

So, Bonita on Trout gear is fun. I launched at Yacht club with that in the back of my mind. Ran towards my first spot...misjudged the flat edge...and ran aground in the grey light. Not hard...thankfully...and only missed by 30 feet. Idled off and headed to the spot. Bait was there and I got a small snook.
I did not want to waste time if I was going to try and pack 4 species in the day. Ran to a trout hole...and caught one. It was still early with the sun just breaking the horizon. I felt the fish were there...since good bait was there. So, this is how I learned something today. I hear a big blow up behind me.
I start to burn the CAL back in to get a shot at the spot the fish broke...and BANG..Trout on! :huh Hmmmm.... Start counting the bait down...then burn it back and started catching trout on every cast. Kinda lost count...a dz maybe. I left them chewin' and hit a spot that might have a Red...a big wad of hog leg mullet...and a half dz of these...

    No Reds or snook though...

OK...I decide to go get some fish that will really pull..

    20160729_081310_zpstpcoiuun.jpg

I see some fish breaking a few hundred yards away and head to them...

Bigger.... catch 3 more of the bigger ones...wrist is now sore...even though I took 2 Aleve this morning to get ahead of the curve.

So, I run in and head to find the Red I need.... A couple refusals...then a take that comes undone :cry I'm now feeling it may just not happen.
I remember reading a post with a guy saying he stayed till 3:30...so I figure I'll stay long enough to finish this spot.

So...11:12 AM...and that's #59...Woo wee it's hot.... The ride back to the ramp was refreshing.

    AGAIN!

OK...Those Bonita are a straight up blast on trout tackle...So, I launched at yacht club (something I rarely do on a weekend ) and head out.
First spot I hook something good...but it pulls loose. It had weight. I kept going and caught a small trout and was happy I would not have to go to a trout hole and would keep going and try for a snook...and sometimes...It is way more than you expect.

Had to turn to get better light...

    20160730_062420_zpsoh6nxtmp.jpg

OK...So I stay at it...and see a couple Reds up super shallow..too shallow really...I get a few shots...but I'm not getting great presentations...and am getting refused on the decent ones... But knowing they are there is part of the battle...

I run out the inlet and it doesn't take long....Man these guys are so strong...crazy fighters with screaming runs.

It seems like i catch the bigger ones a little further offshore and later in the morning when the glass minnows come up....wound up with 5 real fast..
On my way in by 9:15... So, run way south again... get a couple refusals...then a take....that pulls loose.... It's getting late...wind is up...but
A turn of a friendly card....

So, Today I see we have some weather on our doorstep. I get to my first spot and pick off one nice trout about 20 inches. I like that since i won't have to run somewhere else to get that handled and waste precious low light time. I make a move and wind up getting this....

    20160731_065941_HDR_zpsg4lnmxan.jpg

I guess the hot water I released yesterdays snook back into shrunk her up.... :grin

Well I am still watching and listening to the weather...some booms in the distance. I decide I will try yesterdays stubborn Reds in case the weather breaks and I can get out the inlet for some fun. First fish spooks off but I get the next one....

    20160731_075648_zpsdvvxr3or.jpg

8 AM and that's the three I need for #61

Run to the inlet but I know it is not good...wind rippled and heavy cloud cover...The bone heads really don't like those conditions.
I wind up out much farther than yesterday...but it happens...

    20160731_085326_zpszj74scj4.jpg

Lightning and a boom....and i'm gone! Of course...by the time I make the ramp...it has all passed sliding inshore in south Brevard..and it is now sunny and muggy.

Nice. Catching them boneheads in the inside or out of the breakers? Slob of a snook there! Thanks for the report.

The past few days they have been about a mile and a half to 2 miles out.... Today they were closer to 3 plus....
