Business has slowed a bit and has afforded me the time to take out friends enjoy this Incredible Snook Bite. Lately I have been on a decent Redfish bite as well on the inside and have heard reports of other guys doing well on Reds as of late. I cant tell you how many Big Momma Snook i see lost every year but in my anglers defense i fish in real tight areas almost all the time. But it drives me Nutts! There is nothing good about losing a Huge fish i literally have lost sleep over it it truly drives me crazy. So once and a while i need to go and get em myself so i can sleep tight again.Tear em up!!

Once your bit assume the fish is huge always so your not caught of guard. Things can go bad in fractions of a second.
Jam your rod in the water kneel on the deck if you have to to be able to get that rod down in the water as far as you can without dunking the reel. What? I never heard of such a thing, that's what I hear from my people all the time.
Explanation: doing that keeps your line down under all those hanging branches and roots that have barnacles on them and just as important keeps that big Snook head from coming up and shaking her head. It saves her from fraying leaders and jumping and throwing the hook. It also keeps more direct pressure and more pressure to turn the fish. Once out of the trees constant side pressure leading her to open water, she pulls right you pull left and vice versa. If there's no open water keep the rod in the water the whole time. Also use big fish tackle don't bring a knife to a tank fight. I Never assume I'm going to get bit by a small fish or act as if I'm going out to catch Lil fish. if this makes sense to you try it make it habit and you'll get more of those mommas to the boat.
Unfortunately This technique is not Shark proof Bob.

Very Very good advice.
I would add, don't push the rod tip too deep to contact the bottom, there is a fine line.
Your hands do look disproportionally large compared to the rest of you. :wink

Caught a Keeper in a Farm Culvert, fought him for 10 minutes till I ever saw him and he jumper a couple times.
He was 30 ft. inside under the road in a 48 inch culvert , 6 pound braid.
Finesse and reading the fish was the only way a bunch of them came home with me.
