I was wondering if anyone has been in the north banana River by the no motor zone. I'm hoping to go out this weekend as long as the water has cleared up a little. Thanks for any help.
Water clarity was awesome but there wasn't much to see. Saw two rat reds, caught 2 small trout and a few ladyfish... It was nice only having a 5 minute ride to the ramp, but it looks like I'm sticking to trailering to more productive water.
I was amazed at the water clarity on the outer edges of 1000 islands. We found tons of mullet and managed to sight fish two 18" reds and caught a couple lady fish off the big schools of mullet. No trout to be seen by us and the unfortunately the grass is gone.
I know water clarity can be important for sight fishing, but I wonder if it's overrated? I've been fishing in some murky water, but the fish are plentiful, and it helps with sight fishing tailing reds because they have no idea when you sneak up on them. It's not about what I want, it's about what the fish want, and I'm quickly realizing the fish don't care about water clarity
Boston your somewhat right about fishing in murky water, but with out clean water our fishery has declined greatly in the last 20 years. The grass doesn't grow and the bait and fish have declined.
Fish need the clarity. Their habitat down here is destroyed when the water is murky. The water can be dark, as in stained, but when murky it blocks the sunlight and degrades the ecosystem from the ground up. The fish aren't affected directly until they have no where to reproduce and no food to eat. It's about the whole system not just the fish.
