The Body Guard .380 will serve you well..........practice, practice, practice.

On the .22 the hotter the ammo the better. The weak cheap stuff will not cycle the pistol reliably. For SD it is all about reliability.

I still stand by the Beretta Tom Cat as the best micro pistol.

.22 Magnum is a nasty little round and in a revolver, is easily concealed and stays on target decently.

    Yea Buddy.....

But the word "nasty" doesn't even come close to the damage that the .22 mag will actually do.....

There is also quite a bit of body armor that it whistles through that will stop a whole bunch of center fire pistol rounds....

There's a few semi-auto pistols chambered in it, but nothing that I feel is reliable....I have a "like new" High Standard Sentinel Mk IV snubnose revolver in .22 Magnum that I've had since the 70's......it's a 9 shot....and loud as hell....

That's a great gun you have there. I wouldn't buy this round in an auto, I think it in a revolver is a great self defense piece. It's **** near a close range nato round for what it can do. Penetration through a gel block is close to a .357. For what we face in the world today, it will ease right thru body armor and other armor with enough punch to still knock down.

Im looking to get rid of my LCP. I love the form factor of it, and how easy it is to carry in my front pocket, but just highly dislike shooting it. Any ideas?

YEp. Twice. Display of the weapon stopped the night time robbery of an elderly woman in a grocery store parking lot, and the second instance the severe beating/robbery attempt of a 30yo woman walking down the sidewalk on a busy street, during rush hour/daylight.......no one stopped to help. I turned around rendered some assistance. To be honest I could have stopped both by beating the guy's **** but why risk getting cut up by some HIV/hepatitis infected POS.

These situations happen more than people realize. Pisses off my wife sometimes but I tell her if she were to have a "situation" I would hope someone would help her.

Awesome.... I would do the same... Just never run into anything and am glad I have not...

I own one I bought from a guy for $100. Not a bad gun. If buying used, the early models had a few problems. The later editions are dependable. Don't pay over $300 for a new one.

All I could find in a 22 Mag. was the Kel Tek whatever.
My friends have 2 of them that I've shot . 30 round mags.
They will Rock a Perps World. I d rather face a Squad of ReCon Marines than that Pistol in a good shooters hands.

    That's great Chaser.....

I am glad that you are enjoying it.....and truthfully.....I wouldn't feel that I was in the wrong place if I ever had to face off with some creep with a "9" and held it sideways while firing and I was armed with mine.....

At close range those Yellow Jacket HP's at 1500FPS will tear up meat and fragment on bone.....

But don't believe all that "hog wash" about a .22 being a killer at 100 and 200, yards that was shown in a video earlier...sure! It someone were to get hit right through the eye....or smack dead center of the heart....maybe.....but with even those hyper speed .22's moving out at 1500 or better....because of their light weight...30 grains....they also shed speed rather quickly.

At 100 yards...that 1500fps out of the pipe pill is now going 1020 fps...a little slower and it would be sub-sonic...which means that it won't readily fragment on impact....

The real beauty of them is that at close range...50 yards and in....when they strike a man sized target ...there's one hell of a chance that they might not even exit and if they did they might actually not cause much harm seeing that they shed all of their energy into the target...and really....that is what you would want...

    Good luck ...

I would consider a Kahr CM9 before either of those.

    Absolutely.

My carry pistols get randomly pulled and shot when I go to the range to shoot my range guns. I don't even think about it. I just quickly reach down in my pocket holster, bring the weapon up and dump a mag as if I was in a self defense situation. This means they are dusty and dirty to simulate a real situation to judge reliability. On average my carry pistols get shot and cleaned about every 6-8 months.

Kel Tec pistols have been the cheapest brand I have owned and in a real world simulation as noted above for me they have demonstrated the least reliability either due to their mags/springs or not wanting to run dirty.

The Kahr PM9/CM9 have been 100 percent, are more accurate, and more fun to shoot. A have a few LEO friends who carry the CM9 as a BUG.

I have owned one for years. Shoots 10 times better than the Keltec both my brothers own. I love in south FL so it's nice to have something that small and light but I would like to upgrade to the 9mm.

Have not heard from Schmidty wanted to let him know that I bought another upgrade

DB 380 looked like it would bite my hand every time. Elected to get Taurus TCP 738 which doesn't bite but ain't all that fun to shoot.
  • ChuckcChuckc Posts: 4,398 Captain
BTW, DB also makes a micro 9mm that would be a joy to carry as long as you never had to fire it. It would definitely wreck the web of my thumb.

M&P Sheild 9mm works for me every time with IWB

    Springfield EMP.

Pricey, but well worth it. You won't find another more accurate pistol that size.

Kahr makes some nice smaller pistols. Very reliable, and in the "C" series, very reasonable.
