4/29 JUP offshore. Hear about that awesome mahi bite past week or so??

Well, its gone. :banghead :grin

Been trying to get as much fun fishing in as possible in between working so lit out this morning at 0700 and hit the 200-500 range off JUP, and after an hour of trolling some rips with nada, cranked em in and raced out at 46knts to the deep for a run n gun. Ended up 22nm off in no time, but no life, no weed, just greasy slick Lake Atlantic.

Trolled out there for about 45 and nothing...... ran back in to 300 and there was actually a nice rip/line forming up, and about 100 boats all over.

Seas were awesome, day was beautiful, we called it at noon due to lack of bites..... heard of a couple fish here and there but nothing solid. May try to go again Sunday but Booze cruising to Sunfest may win out. :wink

    Let me get this straight
You ran to 22 off and spent all of 45 min fishing out there and gave up?????

I keep seeing from that term "fun fishing" on this forum. Is that for guys for hire that are fishing on their own time?

All in all I can say Scott R is a no BS captain that gets the job done. Sometimes the conditions are not ripe for fishin. Thanks for the report captain.

Yes, when the boat you are on can cruise at 50mph, and you get out there, and its a dead ocean, ya go back to where you hear of at least a few bites. Could i have stuck around? Sure, but then the afternoon at the pool over looking the ICW would of been cancelled. :grin

Yup. Had it been for 'work' I woulda been chucking live, dead, chunks, festhers, spoons, kitchen sink, etc, ended up with a banded rudderfish and a tilefish and proclaimed 'greatest hire ever' status..... this was a half day runnin' n gunnin' fun trip for me.

I report the good, the bad, the ugly..... if I only posted the good reports, people would think they were just ads....... :wink

I agree and thanks for the report Scott R. The good, the bad and the ugly helps all of us waste less time and catch more fish. Catch em up next time you are "fun fishing".

Yea I think the bite slowed down the last few days. It wasn't you. I was thinking of going out 2m but decided against it. Due to the lack of bites, and the wind picking up a little bit 2m. Thanks for the info

This is what sets SCOTT apart from some of the other so-called "captain" regular posters on here that ONLY post when they catch and rarely share any specific Intel.

    Kudos SCOTT.

    :thumbsup

Gotta call JH for a little boat loving next week!!

    Cheers

Had a buddy fish outta palm beach and around 2pm found debris with about 12 mahi on it. He said one ate a bit of ballyhoo chunk, the rest stared at everything he threw at them and didn't eat anything.

Was going to go today but, Slightly Stoopid at 230 by boat to Sunfest is on deck
