Adding Washers to Adjust Spool Height on Fierce 2000

brysonbryson Posts: 13 Deckhand
Forgive me if this has been covered before -- my search skills aren't that great. I have a Fierce 2000 that was given to me as a groomsman's gift about 3 years ago, and I seem to have a problem with the line building up at the top of the spool. It's a pretty conical shape, so I'm hoping that I can just add an appropriately sized stainless washer under the spool to raise it up just a bit.

Has anyone looked into this? Am I risking damaging anything by adding a washer? The nylon washer is about .358" (9.09mm) OD, and the shaft looks to be about .135" (3.43mm) DD, so I figure I would try to get a washer with as close of an ID to the shaft as possible, and the OD just under the OD of the nylon washer so that it doesn't interfere with the gear directly under the nylon washer.

Sorry if I over-complicated that last paragraph -- I guess I'm just asking if anyone has tried this, or if anyone can think of a reason why I should not put a washer in there.
