3-17 Ponce Wahoo and Mahi

Fished out of Ponce yesterday. Left the dock at 7:30 and made quick work on cigar minnows. Ran out to a wahoo spot and high speed for an hour. After no bites we decided to run deep. Ran all the way out to 1800ft and didn't see any weeds, slicks, or rips. It was a dessert for sure. Decided to put our normal spread out and troll shallow. In 1600ft we got a double header bull and cow. Put them in the box and keep working shallow. 1500ft and we got a big bite. Our 50 was peeling line and we all knew what it was. After 10 min we had a nice wahoo in the box. Caught him on 80lb flouro:) After that we trolled all the way back to 240 and found a little rip. As soon as we turned on it we found a 50 gallon barrel half sunken. :fishing needless to say we made our day there. Picked up another 4 gaffers and 2 peanuts in no time. It died down and we decided to run in after we saw the storms pushing offshore. Great first trip of the year with a great group of guys. Didn't get a lot of pics but will try to remember next time. Ended up with 8 phins and 1 wahoo
