Got 5 snook and a black drum on Monday. I was pretty pumped for my first time. Snook around east cape and drum in whitewater

Landed 4 decent snook in one of the NMZ canals on Thursday. It was very slow elsewhere. Water was 59 to 62 degrees.

I just tried to look up the buoy data to see how much colder the water temps dropped after last night but the entire Everglades area is off line. Does anyone have a report? I'd like to get out again on Tuesday if conditions are decent. Thanks.

Spent the whole day working around WWB and on the coast south of ponce. Dirty water everywhere, Struggled all day finally found gin clear water at the Middle Keys and got into a pretty good snook bite We worked around from Graveyard up to Gunboat Island in the shark out to Big Sable and the best water all day was right at Middle keys.

Dons ran out of shrimp early, had to get bait at the old jacks and the ramps were full of trucks and trailers. All the campgrounds were also full.

    Good luck to all.

We did pretty good in Whitewater on Friday -then worked a fly charter there yesterday... I'll have a report later today or tomorrow with lots of pics.... Yes, the ramp was busier than I've seen it in a while - but we rarely saw another boat all day long. The interior is a big place...

I went out there Friday as well. Fished near east cape in the morning and white water in the afternoon. 5 snook, one trout, two snapper, a shark, and some junk. This was my second trip and it was another success. I'm having a hard time finding pin fish though. Any recommendations?

Fished in the back and got a couple Snook, lost a nice one, clouds made the sightfishing tough. Water a bit high/sweet with all the late rain.

Richard... tons of pinfish along the edges of any big grassflat in Florida Bay. When we run out of Flamingo to the south - we just head southwest to the first big grassflats (look to the west of Conchie Channel, north end) then set up a chum bag in around three feet of water and load up... Forgot to mention - wherever you are you'll need some current (direction doesn't matter but current flow is a needed or your chum won't work... Hope this helps.

I was able to be on the water three out of the last seven days down at Flamingo where things are beginning to heat up.... and yes, the first showing of the big tarpon up inside occurred yesterday (more about that later...). My first day on the water it was with long time customer Alan Lewis who winters down here and loves to fish light spinning gear. His partner was a first time visitor to the 'Glades from way up north (far enough north that he's considering becoming a musky guide.....) named Grant (sorry I didn't catch his last name....). That day we found speckled trout, redfish, and one small snook. Alan got a slam that day of snook, redfish, and trout on small leadheads with Gulp tails... Here's a few pics from the day...

The first pic is Grant, the second Alan -we caught three slot sized reds that day, keeping two for the table as well as a trout or two....

The very next I fished fly anglers and we found lots of nice reds and some big snook - all in very shallow clear waters... Notice I didn't say catch... A cold front had passed through the night before and the fish all had lockjaw - refusing everything we tossed at them. It was a pretty frustrating day for all concerned since we had shots at around 100 reds that just weren't having any....The snook we found were all slot or above slot in size and just as spooky.... I spent the day poling and watching fish that clearly were not looking to eat anything at all. This was one of those days when I went home talking to myself.... With the next day off it was back to the tying bench for some answers...

A few days later I was back on the water with visiting anglers Jay Dail and his partner Seth. They were down for four days with their boat so I left my skiff home and spent the day showing them some basic routes across Whitewater and Oyster Bays and the southern route up into the Little Shark river. Every year I get to fish with first timers that book me for a day then spend a few days on their own learning the area....We found a few fish along the way - and were quite surprised to find small barracuda in lots of places where I normally never see them at all (don't have a clue as to why - just one of those things the 'Glades surprises you with....). After starting the day off with a nice snook.... Seth's first one....

We made a point of checking out a few of the places where the big tarpon first hang out in Whitewater Bay... spot after spot - no tarpon.... We covered lots of ground that day in a very nice Pathfinder (I was spoiled - since I don't have a trolling motor on my old Maverick...) but never found the first hint of a tarpon. Now, for the good news... they called me late yesterday to report that the big tarpon had showed up in good numbers (yippee...). They also found big trout and snook up to 36" while also jumping off a tarpon well over 100lbs so maybe my coaching wasn't for nothing... I also got a second call yesterday that the big fish were in the center of Whitewater from another angler who battled one for 20 minutes on a lure, so it looks like we're in business finally....

The next two months will just keep getting better as water temps keep warming.... The only thing that will slow down the fishing will be any sudden temperature drops...

Be a hero.... Take a kid fishing!

ps: for anyone not on my reports mailing list, send an email request to [email protected] and I'll sign you up and send you a brochure as well....

Thanks for the report Bob. Any reports of Red Tide in the park?

    Hey Guys,

Still waiting on the boat but had a buddy invite me to fish.

We headed down to the park at 530am forgetting about the new time this morning. We sat around for about 20 minutes before the sun started to gleam in the sky. Made our way out into Whitewater Bay but first stopped in **** Bay to see if any tarpon where around. They weren't.

    IMG_5476.jpg

We continued to make our way west and decided, since we had a falling tide all morning, to fish a couple river mouths. Picked up this slot Red with a DOA Terror-Eyez.

Unfortunately, the wind picked up pretty bad and we decided to start making our way back to the ramp, through White Water, and fish spots on the way. We hit one small island that had good current, clear water, and some bait life and snagged this little snook.

Once we released him, I told my buddy that I all I needed was a Trout for the Slam. He knew just where to go.

I asked him if he knew a Tarpon spot but at that point, I was just pushing it!
