Boynton Snook. Personal Best by a mile!

I'm a full time student and it's finals week so I've been up crazy hours studying. Was wired from too much caffeine at 4 am so i decided to burn of some energy before trying to sleep. Went down to my dock with pretty low expectations as it was blowing 15 knots and raining a little. The water was pretty calm despite the wind which was a plus. I started painting the mangroves with no luck then started hitting both sides of the dock. Second cast by the dock and I hook up to a little maybe 18 inch snook. Its still pitch black dark at this point so I was happy just to get this little guy out from under the dock. Im pretty happy now and debate whether I should try to catch some sleep. I go back inside and even lay down. That lasted for about 45 seconds then I'm back out the door to the dock again. A little while later right as the sun was starting to break, my line snags a passing freight train. I can't believe how powerful this fish was! they get exponentially stronger as they get bigger. I mean it just wouldn't turn, wouldn't budge, and if it did it would then take back twice as much line. got him close to the seawall and decided not to risk it so I took my phone out of my pocket and climbed down to get him. got soaked but who cares.

It's crazy how hard snook fight! I'm surprised you got that fish to tun around on 15# test. To bad it's out of season. Congrats!

i was shocked the 15# mono held up. it jumped a few times in really shallow water and i was praying the line would hold. somehow it didn't go under the dock either and kinda stayed exactly where i needed him to stay. not gonna lie once i realized how big it was I didn't think I stood a chance.
