Lic. Copy

Since I'm over 65 I do not need Fl. fishing lic. I'm told. Instead of carrying actual drivers lic. around to prove age, would a clear copy of said lic. be OK?

This only applies if you are a state resident

You are correct, a Florida resident over 65 only has to carry proof of age and residence, and a DL will do this, but we are all then loosing. There is a Federal Excise Tax charged on all fishing tackle. This money is returned to the states according to the number of fishing licenses held by state residents. If you go to the tax collector in your county and get the free Over 65 license, then your license is counted when the money is divided up among the various states. The more licenses Florida has, the more money Florida gets back for stock and habitat enhancement. So please take the 10 minutes it takes to get the free license. It's good for both hunting and fishing.

And I don't think a copy of your DL would do, because there are a lot of counterfeit licenses around and the officer would want to see the holographic image on the actual license to accept it as legitimate

I don't carry any originals all my documents are photographed and in my phone. Ive been checked 3 or 4 times and the officers were OK with a photograph. They can run your name and address and know your age in minutes but make it easier on them and carry a photocopy or a picture in your phone.

The officers were perfectly fine with a copy. Why risk loosing the original on the water.
