25ft Mimsa Panga
I am just about to have my first 25 ft panga from Mimsa completed. I ordered 2- one will be for tiller and the other will be a CC. I went over to Mexico for a spearfishing charter in May. The guide had the 27ft Mimsa. We took the boat 90 miles one way and fished for 4 days. I must say that I was really impressed with the quality and soundness of the boat overall. A few months later, I flew over to Merida and meet with the Mimsa builder. There was a few things that I didn't want. The first being- a wood transom and/or a wood floor, or just any wood in the boat. The builder agreed to do all composite. The transom is made with coosa 1 1/2 inch 26 pound board. The floor is 3/4 nida core. The 25ft Mimsa comes standard with 8 inch stringers or you have the option to get 12 inch stringers if you want it self bailing. Here are a few pictures to check out and more to come soon.

Going to try a 70 first. I know over in Mexico I saw a bunch with less hp. Should have the boats the end of the month.
Excellent looking hull, and I think you're spot on on the HP decisions.
Panga hulls thrive on the big nose getting pushed out of the water, yet the rear not dragging in the water. You're right to insist on the Coosa wood too, because every pound of weight you can save helps that nose pop out of the water.
Bigger is not better when it comes to HP (and the subsequent motor weight) on a Panga.
For instance, my 26-foot Explorer panga easily acheives 25 knots with a 75hp 4-stroke Yamaha. When we have tournaments it is the first boat to the grounds against 30+foot boats with dual 150s:
Also, down in St. Augustine the Coast Guard has a school where they practice open water interdiction. The boat that simulates the drug runner is a 32-foot Eduardono panga with dual 200hps and it gives a Midnight Express with FOUR 300hps a run for it's money.
All this with much better fuel efficiency of standard hulls.
Check out my build here: The Harvester Project, and let me know if you need any advice on your build. Looking great so far!

Coming soon! Rod holders for the 258
Hi,
I love the Panga 25 after chartering one in Cancun a few years ago. Could I ask how you get on with the 70 Hp motor and what the visibility forward is like with the tiller steer. Is the Tiller steer engine difficult to use? I was going to get a Merc with Hydraulic assist but if I don't have to spend $$$ I'd rather not.
How was dealing with MIMSA? Any drama?
Much appreciate your input. Buying from Australia is a risk, buy sooooo much cheaper than building here.
