Very strange top water lure bite:

So I throw a zara spook last night at dusk and it gets hit by something strong. I fight it for ten minutes and get it to the dock. Look down and to my amazement it's an enormous catfish. :huh. I go to take a picture and the line breaks. Had my lure in the side of its mouth like a trout. Is this normal or no? Thanks.

Catfish are predators, I've caught water moccasins on top waters (lure inside the mouth)

Yes catfish will go after anything. I've caught them on spooks, mirrodines, soft jerkbaits, you name it
