Matanzas 5/31/15

After two days stirring up the cloudy dirty mess on the flats and creeks decided to change things up and head to Matanzas Inlet for the day.
Water temps in the ICWW at 0700 were already in the mid eighties so getting to some 78 degree water gave hope. The water was clearer and had a lot of top water activity with LARGE bluefish breaching and busting the bait balls cruising the edges.
About 0800 the bite started. Nothing to throw in the box but had activity all day. Even left for lunch at Bing's and returned to more rod bending activity.
The first fish was a 27" blue on a popping cork and shrimp, then pulled some pin fish on steroids(8-10"). As the water started to change color pulled out in the current and hooked on this big ol' jack for one hell of a fight on light tackle.
The afternoon brought on some 3'-4' sharks with rounded noses/dark fin's that my son was able get on the sand bars and fight. To finish the trip he hooked up on a large lady fish about 30". It was great watching the fish dance and see the smile on his face while fighting.

Great day over all with son and good quality time on the water. Am convinced once the wind lays down we will all have good fishing again in the creeks!
