I'll call a foul on the play. Those are Texas deer. Even their youngins look better than many of our older bucks.
Don't know that I'd call a foul on the play.
The antler to body size (ears etc.) proportions still would apply to our So Fla deer IMHO.
Plus if one is thinking trophy class deer I would say in my view a trophy is any animal of rare size for the area being hunted. Even that is questionable since the size (antlers or body) of deer in any area can change somewhat over time due to regulations being applied or environmental conditions.
The only 3 deer two of which were large antlered that I have ever mounted mostly had to do with a very unique scenario having to do with that particular hunt like once when a buddy of mine claimed to have finished off a cow horn spike I shot once that I proved beyond doubt would have died where he was laying when my friend put a load of buckshot low on his front leg. HaHa every time I look at that mount I can relive the whole hunt as if it happened today.
Kind of like "beauty" being in the eyes of the beholder.
