  Check out the Star Paraflex jigging if you want to jig. It'll can also be used for bottom bait fishing of course. Jigging rods are traditionally short. The Teramars are great for the price though a little heavier.

  cab be had for $129 @ Southeastern Fishing Tackle Liquidators (fishsoutheastern.com). They are located in tampa. not sure if the tallus is on their site, but it is in store last time I was there. It's not far off the interstate . give em a call perhaps.
  I was torn between the tallus and the teramar for a tarpon rod. If I did a little more offshore fishing, I would have gone w/ the tallus spinner. have a tallus conventional and like it a lot.
  (yes I have sipped their cool-aid, rod flavored anyway), as I own some.

  If you intend to do vertical jigging with 200g jigs, I would not get a rod over 6' long. I would get a rod that is intended for vertical jigging (the Star Paraflex jigging rod mentioned above is a good example, as are Shimano Trevala, Okuma Cedros, and many others). On the other hand, if you want to cast lures, then a jigging rod is not really the right tool. It really depends on what you plan to do with it.

  I'd get a jigging rod and then a 8' rod for tarpon/snook.

  DTNS801530 Eupro ( I own both of those rods and don't have a problem recommending either).
  
  If that 6' jigging rod won't work for those California head boats , I'd look for something out there, like a OTI Tuna Sniper or some kind of Seeker.

  Look at the Penn Carnage jigging rods too. 6' CARJG80130S60 rated 80-130 & 6-10 oz or for a lighter tip the 6'4" CARJG65100S64 rated 65-100 & lures 5-8 oz both at $130

  BPS has some bad reviews for those Penn Carnage rods (but only 2 reviews), do you think they're on par with Trevala rods or better/worse?

  I've seen too many Trevala rods returned to the shop, broken, before Shimano changed it's warranty policy and requires them to be returned to them. Don't even think about high sticking one.
  
  Only 2 reviews on the Carnage??? There's 2 on Amazon ( 1 pro, 1 against) 2 reviews on Bass Pro (again, 1 favorable 1 not so) Lots of threads on other boards about them and I could not fine another negative review.

  So with the limited split reviews about the Carnage and your personal experience with the Trevalas what rod do you recommend?

  I recommend the Carnage unless you are very experienced and NEVER high stick a rod. And from my experience, most anglers are not that careful when jigging or fighting a fish. Most will eventually high stick a rod, myself included. The Trevalas should not be lifted above horizontal to the water. Problem with this is that means using the reel as a winch and that's not the way to beat a fish, the rod is used to beat a fish, the reel is used to store line gained when the rod tip is lowered.
  
  The Trevalas are good, but, IMHO, the Carnage is better.

  I have that exact reel and I have it paired with a Shimano Trevala 50-100 lb class rod. Even though it is an excellent rod for jigging and bottom fishing, for some reason we usually use it for our free line off the back of the boat. We landed a couple nice BFTs this weekend with the combo. I've reconverted it to a bottom rod for the time being. Its a nice combo.
