Mason Creek Fishing 4/18-19

Last weekend was the annual CCBA fishing tournament here in Homosassa, despite the windy weekend the overall fishing was great. We fished Mason Creek and the surrounding area, we caught over 25 Reds over those two days & a couple nice over sized trout. A gold spoon and live shrimp were our best baits, most of the slot fish we caught were between 23"-25" but they were hefty, we weighed our 24" which was just under 6 lbs. The rat red were schooled up on rocky points by islands, we caught 13 Reds on 13 consecutive cast, all just at 18" or a little under, tossing a cork with a live shrimp at them, which was demolished in seconds. I've never been happier to see spring arrive, after a miserable winter of fishing, the fishing is finally on.

Great catchin'! Glad to see things are hot in Mason's Creek...I too had a mighty dry winter fishing there. Cool bunch of spots on the rat photo.
