Penn Battalion Inshore rod

I'm looking to get an inshore rod. I've always liked Penn products, so I went and looked at their site. The battalion with the "foam" grips looks like a nice choice for me. I'd just like to know if you'd recommend this rod for inshore fishing and casting surf plugs. If not, I'm certainly open to recommendations. However, I do not like cork handles, no matter how good the rod.

I just think it may be too heavy for casting light plugs. It's rated for 3/4 oz to 2 1/2 oz.
Is it too long/too short at 7 feet?
Model number: BATIN1530S70
Thank you!

It's hard to find true inshore rods with foam eva grips but many bass rods will do the job perfect, the shimano clarus or compre comes to mind and would be my top recommendation for you. I personally fell you'd be better suited with a 7'6" or 8' rod but it's a preference
Another option would be the ugly stik inshore select
Penn isn't really known for their rods for a reason.
Many things to do.
Knots to be unraveled
'fore the darkness falls on you
