I put some of the sand perch down there for them after the guys here said it was good bait and the grouper really liked them. they are really easy to catch too. With a sabiki on sandy bottom you could pull 30 in 45 minutes or less.
Sand Perch (aka- Squirrel-fish) are much better bait than PINfish, but PINfish are better than nothing...
There should be NO Commercial Fishing for any fish species considered 'Over-fished' , 'Undergoing Overfishing' or Subject to Recreational Seasons, Limits, or Closures... Game Fish Status IS the Answer !!!
Also tomtates, if you can get those, groupers love them like the squirrel fish. Usually can get them off the same spot youre pulling up grouper. They also taste pretty good when large. They have that similar hogfish face going on, probably similar diet
I'll even settle for dorado, but mahi is something found in Hawaii, not Florida.
And when they change the name of Jewfish Creek Bridge to Goliath Grouper Creek Bridge, I may decide to call them that. I still call the field the Dolphins play on Joe Robbie Stadium.
