All in moderation. Ice cream isn't that terrible by itself, it's the added crap cheap brands put in.
And I don't need a beer in the morning to function and I don't drink 2 to 4 cups of it a day. That's the difference. And I enjoy poking at you silly bunch

Haven't had any ice cream since October when my Sister treated us at local home made ice cream joint in CT.
Hand packed by a pro, interesting range of flavors, guaranteed Brain Freeze.
All this ice cream talk is making me want some. Unfortunately seems to be no consensus on 'Store Bought Ice Cream' & a lot of conflicting/outdated info.
Used to like Breyers, but think it slipped. Sounds like Blue Bell slipped. Ben & Jerry's & Baskin & Robins & Stewarts & Klondike & Publix - Oh! My!
What about small local ice cream shops? Anybody got a favorite in Gainesville area?
If you like milkshakes there is a good place in Seffner FL. Right off I-4 across from the Racetrack station. Homemade with fresh strawberries, they are real good.

For those in S. Florida or passing through on the way to the Keys, you have to get a homemade strawberry milkshake and some sticky cinnamon rolls from the Knauss Berry farm in the Redlands (Homestead). It is a farm run by some sort of religious people similar to Amish and they have some good shakes and buns. Only open in the Winter but a unique S. Florida place. Not tropical at all.

Trust me. if you can handle simple vanilla ice cream, try the Blue Bell Home made vanilla. It is simple but good.
LOL The last time I bought ice cream was when this ice cream thread last appeared and Blue Bell was raved about. Bought the vanilla as mentioned. Did not like it. No where near as creamy and rich as other top brands. Hagen Daz is much better,

Robert is Here is also good. Can't be missed when passing through Florida city

I make my own ice cream when I get the hankering, easy as crap to do and ZERO artificial ingredients. Besides, homemade blackberry ice cream with a little rum, heaven. :grin

Not anymore. Unilever closed at the end of 2014.
