UCF student pulls gun on burglar as he breaks through door

of Central Florida student who pulled a gun on two violent intruders who attacked her boyfriend and threatened her life.
The incident happened midafternoon at the Village of Alafaya Club, which sits down the street from the university.
The couple, who are both students at UCF, said they got a knock at the door and when they opened it, two men barged in.
Victim Nour Skargee said he answered the door and was immediately forced to the ground as one of the men pointed a gun at his head.
"They said they were going to kill (her), and that's when I really lost hope, you know?" Skargee said.
Skargee's girlfriend, Sable Nehme, tried to lock herself in her room and grabbed a revolver just as one of the men burst in.
"The only thing I could think was, 'I need to figure out a way to protect us,'" Nehme said. "I grabbed the gun from out here in my closet. I pointed it at them, because he has busted through my door."
Nehme said the man saw the weapon and immediately ran from the room.
"I was helpless on the ground and it went from like, complete despair until, you know, I see her in the hallway holding a big revolver, and they're running out the door," said Skargee.
Nehme said her father sent the gun to her for protection.
"I am so thankful I had that gun in my room. Like, I don't know what would have happened," said Nehme.
The couple said they found out later that the weapon the burglars used was really a pellet gun

That would make me very proud as a father, husband, boyfriend etc.

I'm suprised she had the restraint to not pull the trigger.

I know if my GF had felt threatend enough to retreat into the bedroom, retrieve her .357 that I bought her, get "ready" and in position with her back aganist the wall.....that dude would have been wounded had he entered the room.

You can never be too prepared.

Absolutley +1 for the good guys.

Do any of y'all practice this kind of stuff with your GF or wives? Not with a loaded firearm obviously, but just get it into their heads what to do, where to go in a situation such as this one?

I take the GF to the range every 2 months or so for practice, just got to make sure I never TRULY **** her off as she is quite the shot now :grin

We also went over safe positions to defend herself (hence the "back aganist the wall" comment in the previous post)

Just wondering if any of y'all have ever done the same with the women in your household.

The home gun is a .357 she likes shooting it with the .38 special rounds, not so much with the people rounds.
I kept telling her if the time comes you need to use it you will be so pumped you wouldn't notice if it was a 30-30 round coming from your hand.

    Balanced out with
    1) Brevard guy acting out a rap song and accidentally shoots his friend dead (yesterday)
    2) Young girl upset that her 19 yr old took a Xanaz, took his gun, pulled magazine out, but not knowing that there is a bullet in the chamber, shoots him in he head killing him on the spot. (West Palm Beach 2-3 days ago)
    3) Father to serve 4 months for buying his teenage son a Carbine and 100 rounds of ammunition which were then used for shooting at houses and killing two people (I believe in Kissimmee. In Orlando Sentinel today)

Lesson (at least for me), that if you are giving a firearm to your son or daughter, you take him for safety courses and have him or her
get comfortable using the weapon. Although it did not make a difference, I wonder how many times the UCF girl had fired her gun.

So, a toy gun (minus the orange cap) would have sufficed in this case and been much safer? This proves that toy guns should not have orange caps.
