Mosquito Lagoon 12/20

On the water by 6:30

First cast with my "new" dedicated crankbait baitcaster combo with a badonkadonk, explosion, and a nice 23" trout. That was easy. Water is still high and murky. Never did find clear water all day. Reds were tough. Hunkered down in muddy bottom, not really schooled up, not much active feeding. Saw a couple of tails that didn't used to belong to ducks, but no takers. I rarely change lures unless I get broke off but I threw a lot of stuff at them today including live shrimp without a bite. I'd see movement, stop and work the area, then push forward and flush them out. Wash, rinse, repeat. Only thing I didn't use was fish for bait. Or dynamite, but it was tempting. I'm fairly confident I could've staked up in some spots where they were thick and threw out some cut bait but that ain't flats fishing for me. May as well just catfish on the Econ, right?

A couple guys at the ramp in kayaks said they did well so there's that...
