Mid-keys backcountry mangrove snapper

The bite was non-stop for the mangroves snapper near Tavenier on live shrimp. Large hungry groups could be found along most mangrove shorelines. There were a few redfish and sharks on the flats with some snook found cruising the edge of the mangroves. While the mission of the day was keeper sized mangroves for food and entertainment for the wife(her favorite species to catch), I did manage to catch one snook on the fly. The day concluded with 20 mangroves caught on the two dozen live shrimp I had. We kept the 3 largest for table fare. The snook measured 21 inches.
