Boynton inside - 9/29 - light tackle bent rods

Kids were off from school yesterday and my son Joseph wanted to cruise around with dad and bend a lot of rods. We got the Sara-Jo, the little whaler we got a few months ago, on the water, and off we go with Capt. Joe at the helm.
We had just purchased a set of 4 ugly sticks inshore select (2x M and 2x MH) and 4 Penn Battle reels (2x 3000 and 2x 4000). Great combos by the way and the ugly sticks can take the kid abuse and the bangining around on the t-Top in a little boat. BTW, thanks to the folks at Tuppens for hooking us up!
On my way in from fishing the day before, I could see tons of mullet being crushed just inside the inlet. It was about noon time on the high outgoing tide. So I thought we would check it out, catch some mullet on the way there, hook up with some jacks and maybe get lucky with a mid-day snook.
We stopped at the Lantana bridge looking for some mullet but couldn't see them - tide was high - I'm sure they were there - just couldn't see them. We headed down to the inlet - no bait to be seen. The little cove behind the inlet - nada. The marina docks by the inlet - invisible. On our way to the Ocean Ave. bridge by 2georges, just before the gas dock, we noticed a bunch of birds very intensely focused on the water, so we checked it out.
In about 3ft of water, schools of mullet were rushing by almost undetected. Capt. Joe does a masterfull job bringing me within reach to net some. We just kept a dozen or so....and the search began.
We went back to the inlet where I had seen them getting crushed the day before. We anchored the boat and waited. We put a livie out, cut bait on the bottom, and we were tossing some lures here and there, practicing Capt. Joe's aim and casting etc... no takers. We decide to pick up and and go in search of the action. Nothing at the spillway, nothing at the inlet cove, nothing at Lantana bridge, and then just past the bridge, we could see bait being chased by jacks. We head to the action spot, and get hooked up.
Fish on dad.....

I can unhook it dad....
We had about 30 of them in about 2 hours. Lots of fun - good fights...
We moved further north to the lake worth bridge, looking to get lucky on a snook. We tossed a live mullet under the bridge a few times - nada. We moved up a bit to explore snook islands. Capt. Joe entrusted his vessel to his first mate while he made his mark (foot prints) on one of the islands.
We decided to head back home and went by my brother's house - yes his Android HTC camera sucks. All the pictures I take are with my blackberry!!!
The best thing when we get back, was Capt. Joe saying "can I clean the boat dad?" Of course buddy, after all it's your boat! :blowkiss
It was a great time bending rods and non-stop laughter and eating oreo cookies!!!! No need for dolphin, tuna or wahoo. :wink
