For a fresh grad and a state college, that is overpaying.
That is what I said. go back and read my post. Some jobs are in nasty places, they have to pay for that, and the kid is looking for adventure so I got him an outrageous job. They are out there.
And your point...........? Those figure are suitable, maybe, if you are a line worker. Furthermore, those VFX numbers are project oriented figures. Projects are limited and thus always larger, not day in day out forever.
Toppers:
a person, who after hearing a story, responds with one of their own which is intended to belittle or "top" the previous one. usually, toppper's stories are complete and utter fabrications of their limited immaginations. extreme toppers actually believe their own impossible lies
And there is only one of those, and here is a hint. Its not W.E.
Please stop derailing my thread.

Don't be a fool. The high end work is at the high end companies and facilities. I commute to LA or wherever, when working... we all do.

Yawn. If you were making the real cash you would not have come back from CA. Besides if you can bring yourself big money for 12 or 18 months at a time, good for you. But when you take inot account your down time, it ain't that great.
I absolutely agree. If you want to engage students, get them engaged in what is being taught. First an explosion, then calculations concerning the strength, speed and probability of damages. Then another explosion to see if the calculations were correct.
There is a lot of science in a good explosion, chemistry, math, probability...
I gotta admit, Im having a really hard time pushing kids toward STEM (or STEAM if you add 'Art') as I don't see it as one size fits all.
WE did hit on the concept of project based work. In one breath he tried to challenge my income with it while early, project bonuses were a 'plus' in his column.
STEM people are lying. They make less than they are pretending to
I am a plant taxonomist and plant ecologist. I restore ecosystems and monitor the restoration results. I spend A LOT OF TIME fixing screw ups by the engineers who spec the wrong plants in the wrong places all the time. Probably because they did not use a calculator ha ha. No, because they have no clue about what plants like and why.
So now you are a Master Gardener. How many new plants have you identified in your short career as a Taxonomist?

No your not. You are in the pretty picture on the computer business.
Base for the example I cited is $75K. However, who cares about the base? Take home is take home.
Are you saying this is the norm or are your numbers due to your supreme exceptionalism at the high end of the spectrum?
Boeing, NVidia, SpaceX and tech startups... plus the pretty pictures.

On top of ALL of this, the collusion (that Techtopus Sherman AntiTrust case we're all a part of):
http://pando.com/2014/09/08/breaking-new-wage-theft-lawsuit-filed-against-hollywood-giants-as-techtopus-scandal-grows/
That was the reason for the 250k cap.
(I rolled all my cash and energy into the startup. Hence the return to FL)

Slander issues much?
I want to know, how the average American can NOT pass a 5th grade science quiz? That is a whole lot of dumb ****. :huh
I wasn't sure if I remembered my 5th grade science so I found a 5th grade test and took it. Here it is if you wish to take it
http://www.ode.state.or.us/wma/teachlearn/testing/samples/2011_12/sci_gr-5_sample_test_2011_eng.pdf
Not sure how anyone could fail that. Test was too easy. You got to be pretty dumb to fail a 5th grade science test.
