Choke not working with ignition switch
Have had this problem periodically and usually had a new switch (generic) installed which works for 6-12 months, however I just installed a new one and of course pushing it in does not activate choke...any suggestions?
This is on a yamaha (2000) 115 hp 2 stroke...I can of course set the choke manually but hey what's the fun in that
Thanks for ur suggestions
BTW replacing it with a generic switch $19 putting in a yamaha switch $ 120

I'm wondering if I have a selenoid problem as the switch I just put in worked"....any idea where I can locate the solenoid?
it will be located near the carb linkages. its controls a butterfly valve on the carb throats.

I have the same motor and found out it was a break in the blue wire which controls the choke. The break occured in the wiring harness where it meets the motor cowling. After years of flexing by raising and lowering the motor the wire broke. Ohm the blue wire to see if this is your problem. If so, cut out the bad part and use a heat shrink butt connector to solve the problem.
