We left the ramp at 7:30 and ran east past the weather buoy looking for signs of mahi. Ended up running out to 700' before we found anything that looked fishy. The farther we ran the better the seas got. Worked a rip and scattered weeds and nothing. Tried another spot in about 600' and nothing. Decided to try the bottom and from the cones in to 90' we tried about 10 different spots and couldn't get a bait down to the bottom past the sharks. Nothing but sharks at every spot, not even a sea bass.
This is our first year trolling but we usually get something, not today.
Did anyone else have any luck today with mahi?. Last week we landed 3 wahoo and lost a nice mahi
Didn't see many boats out today and the new ramp was not busy at all.
