A good first appearance

The boy got into his first highschool game this evening. He is the first and so far only freshman to see any action. Game was well in hand but when he got his opportunity he shined. Played 2 full series as outside linebacker and forced a fumble and broke up a sweep by crushing a pulling guard right back into the back. Created a wonderful oooh sound effect from the crowd. Coach after the game said he was going to enjoy the next 4 years with the boy on the field.

I would say he is a chip off the old block but he is going to be bigger, stronger and faster than I ever dreamed of being.

Was a good night. Daughter is senior and captain of the cheer squad so it was the first time she cheered in a game little brother played in.

Mrsfins welled up a time or two.

Fins, I think you would lose all bowel and bladder function and giggle uncontrollably for a week if he signed his letter of intent with the Vols.
Congrats. Should be some great Fall Friday nights for the next 4 years for you and your family.

Thanks all... probably a bit pre mature to think or dream of running through the T. I just hope he has fun and stays safe.

His problem may end up being the same as mine. When I hit my growth spurt around 15 and 16 I got lanky and could not keep weight on my frame. He may end up like that. Hard to find a niche on the field when you cant keep bulk with your height.

Right now he is classified as a backer and tight end. I do not see the backer position lasting very long. Maybe end if he can keep meat on his bones.

That was a gnat that got in my eye. :shrug

Regarding the VOLS. It is weird having to wait until tomorrow for things to get started.
