We had a decent trip on Friday with 3 dolphin caught in 125 - 140 feet of water, we also hooked and lost a small sail. On the way back home I stopped by the gas station about 1 mile from my house. While turning into the pump area my back axle broke. Well at least it happened close to home and I had two good friends to assist. We took the tires off of the axel and limped to my friends house on the remaining good one. Up to Fugerson's the next morning, purchased two new axles, back to my friends house and we replaced both of them by Noon.
I had replaced both hubs on the axle just around 6 weeks ago before I took the boat to Crystal River for scalloping, I didn't realize that the axlel was in such bad shape. My wife and I consider it a blessing that it did not give way on the highway.
Learn from my mistake, and routainly check out your axles.
Fish tacos last night were very good.:)
