Thanks for the input. I just moved here and am still adjusting to the laws. Haven't been on the water yet because I don't wanna do anything stupid.

Welcome to the forum> go to wally world and get the freshwater booklet (tells you all the regulations/laws) and you can also pick up a
Read up as much as possible about your area> do a google map search and look at all the bodies of water in your
area... also go to all the baitshop and hang out asking questions (buy a few things)...
and as far as livebait> shiners are top of the list but they are $$$$$$$$$ after awhile to keep buying... good
idea to look or them and see if you can catch them somewhere...
Goldfish a no-no... people will have a fit if you ask them about baby carp to catch for bass fishing... the grass
carp down here, I believe are protected by the seniors in all waterways :grin I'm joking but really they will have
a fit if you ask about "Baby carp"...
Now Bluegill also make great bass bait and I caught some big bass on them.. "But" you have to catch the bluegills
on a rod/reel in your waters to be able to use them for bait...
But if you truly want to become better at this game> learn to use lures!!! from plastic to hard lures... learning
how to catch bass on a plastic worm will bring your game up to another level...
Don't get me wrong I love live bait and will use it over lures if given the choice... but to be able to cover ground
with a lure... and not having to carry bucket/air pump make a world of different...
Plus its a HOO when you catch one on a lure>>> but buying lures will become a monkey on your back.. once you start you always
want to keep buying more... LOL..

The live bait is for catfish. Really like setting the hook in a big ol slime slinger!! I do bass fish however. All my bass fishing is done with artificial. Back home no one uses live bait for bass....I really didn't know that was done. Thanks for all the info, it is well taken!
